REPORT on the visit of the Latvian delegation in Belarus

On 17-20 of March, 2005, in Minsk with official visit was a delegation from the Latvian Republic. The Latvian delegation included Viesturs Sosars, head of the Technology Development Forum (TDF); Zigmars Reklaitis, manager of TDF projects; Davis Yansons, head of Technological Park Zemgale; Anatoly Kovalenok , Director of ZELTA MERKIS Ltd.

The purpose of the visit of the Latvian delegation was expansion of business, scientific and innovation communications and contacts in the field of education between establishments and enterprises of Belarus and Latvian Republic, acquaintance with scientific-innovation and industrial-technological base of Belarus, negotiations on innovational projects, adjustment of business contacts on work directions of the Belarus-Latvian Center of Technology Transfer (BLCTT), coordination and signing the agreement of work of the Center for 2005.

In the first working day of the visit for the members of the Latvian delegation there was organized a reception in the State Committee for Science and Technology , visit to the Republican Center of Technology Transfer, Belarus Innovation Fund, Belarusian State University, Belarusian National Technical University.

Forenoon of the second working day of the visit the Latvian delegation took part at the meeting of the pro-rectors on scientific and innovation activity of belarusian universities, which took place in the Belarusian National Technical University. Besides Anatoly Kovalenok had a report in the Republican Institute of Innovation Technologies of BNTU on subjects «Management in innovational sphere».

In the second half of this day in BNTU was conducted the Belarus-Latvian seminar «Prospects of bilateral Belarus-Latvian cooperation in scientific-innovation sphere». At this seminar there were representatives of higher education establishments of Belarus, research establishments and innovation organizations, who could carry on negotiations with the Latvian party. The discussion of further work of BLCTT, the basic planned actions and possible joint innovation projects took place as well. The result of this work was the coordination and signing the Agreement on work of BLCTT for 2005.
