POLISH CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE "ELECTRIC ENERGY"

Centre of Excellence "Electric Energy" was set up on the basis of the Warsaw Electrotechnical Institute www.iel.waw.pl.  This centre was founded within the 5th Framework program and accepted by the European Commission. It started to work in February, 2003.

Foundation of a Centres of Excellence network It provides a possibility of joint scientific-research work and innovation projects execution, increase of production quality and execution of training programs.

For instance, there is a network of such Centres of Excellence in Poland ( www.6pr.pl/s5o/centra_dosk/siec_CD_wykaz.html?drukuj=1). We cooperate with one of them: Centre of Excellence "Electric Energy" (http://www.electric-energy.pl).

The problems solved by the Centre of Excellence "Electric energy" are intended for strengthening contacts with other European Centres of Excellence, foundation of thematic networks of cooperation in Europe, foundation of information network of support for technological transfer and innovations, development of contacts with international regional organizations.

This centre organizes and executes the research work in the field of electric energy, power and electronics in the following directions:

  • electrical engineering (high and low power of continuous and alternating current including equipment for common and special purposes);
  • electric equipment (automatic switches, contactors, measuring transformers; safety fuses; switching equipment etc.);
  • energy electrotechnical systems and converters;
  • metrology and tests executed without destruction of a sample;
  • methods and devices applied for tests of electrotechnical production and equipment: measuring systems, instrumentation;
  • electrotechnical technologies and materials: electrical insulating, ceramic, magnetic materials;
  • electric control system with usage of GSM
  • network.

    Due to the work of the Centre the Electrotechnical Institute manufactures 3 groups of production:

    1. Control systems and their elements;

    2. Laboratory measuring devices;

    3. Insulating products and materials.

    The Centre of Excellence "Electroenergy" cooperates close to industrial sector. In the Electrotechnical Institute have been executed 88 research and 40 special projects. A lot of them have been introduced and actively used at factories and enterprises of Poland. For some of developments the Centre has been awarded the National price and Award of the winner in the field of technologies.

    In June, 2004, the delegation of the Centre has visited the Belarusian National Technical University and "Technopark "Metolit" at BNTU, was familiarized with our activity. There has been signed a letter of intent between Interuniversity Centre of Marketing and Centre of Excellence "Electric energy". This document provides development of mutually advantageous cooperation, expansion of business contacts and experience exchange in the field of innovative structure development, organization of management and consulting on technology transfer, as well as in the field of establishment of commercial relationship between institutions, organizations and enterprises of Poland and Belarus.

    24 and 25 of November, 2004 , Dr.Y.Aliakseyeu (Director of the Technopark "Metolit" at BNTU) had an opportunity to visit this Polish Centre and familiarize with its activity more close. Questions on scientific-innovation cooperation and its development in the future have been discussed at a meeting in Warsaw. A result of the meeting was signing of the Protocol with Warsaw Electrotechnical Institute . According to this paper the Belarusian side has given the information on activity of the Technopark "Metolit" at BNTU, on services of a network of the university centres of technology transfer, as well as on 30 innovative projects of Belarusian universities (BNTU, BSUIR, BSU, BRU, BSTU, PSU, GSU) in the field of electric energy proposed for joint execution.

    The Polish party has presented the information  on activity of the Polish scientific organizations in the field of electrical engineering, information on the basic directions of activity and opportunities of the Centre of Excellence "Electric energy" in international cooperation development within the 6th Framework program of EU, presentation of scientific, test laboratories, centres of certification, service of marketing and international cooperation and scientific and technical information of the Electrotechnical Institute. Both parties have agreed upon services providing in the field of certification and test of electrotechnical production of Belarusian manufacturers according to standards of EU - CE.
