Purpose and area of application

At the result of researches there was ascertained, that the galvanic wastes can be additional source of the non-ferrous metals. The galvanic wastes can be used with addition a carbon and molybdenum for production of the contact plates. The facing plates of electrical contacts are used in the trolley buses, trams, suburban electric train of undergrounds, diesel and electric trains of the railway.

Now such plates produce from alloy consisting on 85 % from silver and on 15 % - of a cadmium oxide. The weight of a plate - 15 … 20 g depending on a type size (the plates 20õ16 mm, 20õ20 mm and 20õ25 mm). An effective life of plate is about 2 months, that makes 76 pieces for unit of the transport annually. An estimated cost of a plate is about 2 USD per an item.

The cost of a copper plate made from the deposited powder in conditions of small-scale production is about 0,5 USD. The development is at the stage of research. The manufacturing and realization of production-line tests in the university is planned.
