Purpose and area of application: 

   The Laboratory of Network Information Technologies of the Belarusian National Technical University was set up in 2002. The main direction of activity is development of hardware-software complexes for analysis and protection of information in computer networks. There was developed the specialized network card "Network Analysis and Protect Card" ("NAP Card") in 2004. This device is the expansion of PCI card based on the reconfigurable logics and has two independent Fast Ethernet network ports. There is become possible the implementation of different network devices oriented on the analysis of traffic and circuit protection from undesirable influence on the basis of "NAP Card".

Examples:

• Hardware analyzer of network traffic with capability of active influence on process of transfer. There is possible hardware filtration of data at channel, network and transport levels, as well as search of signatures in real time. The functions of interlock/change of data on definite features allow operatively to react on different events in a network.
• Hardware firewall. The hardware realization of the majority of functions allows on the order to lower delay of data. Thus this device is applied for processing of continuous traffic near to peak one.
• Complex for collecting of statistics on network traffic and analysis of quality of a connection channel. It can be used by the providers in Internet for creation of systems of pricing of the proposed services, as well as by network integrators for analysis of necessity of a network's dilating or change of its configuration. The device allows to set a combination of different criteria of statistical processing: from the elementary calculation of a data transfer rate up to the indicating of the causes of a unsatisfactory transmission quality of data.
• Device for testing of a network for a correctness of set-up and definition of different parameters (peak transfer rate, maximal constant speed, response time etc.). The function of hardware generating of the dataflow allows to make tests in autonomous regime. It considerably accelerates and simplifies process of network adjustment. The great capabilities of traffic analysis allow to reveal different faults: from defects of network interfaces up to non-correct work of a software.

Additional information:

   As the "NAP Card" is based on the reconfigurable logics, the implementation of the most different projects is possible in accordance with a customer's wishes. The card can be equipped additionally with the interface to graphic LCD, port RS-232, scheme of coupling with a hardware key.
