Patent of the Republic of Belarus N 30 -  Patent of the Russian Federation N 2058437

Purpose:

Protective functional nickel-boron coating may be deposited on the different metal substances such as copper, brass, beryllium bronze, steel, kovar, tungsten, aluminium and its alloys etc. Technology of nickel–boron coating production is based on the electroplating deposition of two–component alloys. Nickel–boron coating is characterized by low contact resistance, high microhardness, wear resistance, corrosion stability, solderability and weldability by ultrasound

   Polycrystalline coating Ni–B (1–6 at. % B) is used

  • for making printed circuit board instead of the gold and palladium coatings or as sublayer under a very thin layer gold
  • in production of contacts and contacting devices instead of the gold and silver coatings
  •    Amorphous coating Ni–B (16–25 at. % B) is used

  • on instruments (instead of chromium)
  • on refrigerating equipment used for production of fiberglass
  • on cutting disks for processing raw diamond materials into brilliant

Area of application:

  • instrument-making
  • radio engineering
  • microelectronics

Advantages:

  • simple in exploitation and can be used for a long period of time in variable conditions
  • decrease of the production cost
  • allows to carry out the formation of amorphous alloys at low temperatures
  • Technical characteristics of the nickel-plating solution and coating Ni-B:
