Purpose and area of application

Friction units of machines and mechanisms operated in extreme conditions (elevated temperatures, corrosive mediums, vacuum).

The materials are effective in mobile and static integrations of different machines and mechanisms including seal systems operated under ambient temperatures up to 350 o C  at slip speed up to 3 m/c and specific loads up to 4 MPa (factor PV to 12 MPa m/c).

Know-how features of the proposed materials

The materials are designed on the base of polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) (fluoroplastic-4) by its modification with functional additions of different effect. The principle of all-level modification providing reinforcement effect at overmolecular and interface levels is applied in materials development. The special technology of surface treatment of filling agents ensuring the formation of oriented boundary layers and high adhesion strength on the phase boundary “matrix-filling agent” is developed for improving operating characteristics.

The materials are processed by compaction technique with subsequent machining of blanks. The use of reclaimed polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) without decrease of operating characteristics of the material is admissible.
