Purpose and area of application

   The laboratory of physical and chemical methods of investigations of BSTU applies the following kinds of spectroscopy to carry out research:

- Atomic Absorptive Spectroscopy;

- IR-Spectroscopy and FT-IR-Spectroscopy;

Atomic Absorptive Spectroscopy

Directions of research: 
-Definition of elements concentration in drinking, superficial water, sewage, silts and soils;
-Definition of contents of toxic elements in food and agricultural production, forages and fertilizers;
-Definition of ecological safety of ceramic and metal ware, porcelain and faience, glass and crystal, enamels;

IR-Spectroscopy and FT-IR-Spectroscopy 

Directions of research: 
-Identification of organic and inorganic substances;
-Research of the of chemical bond nature;
-Study of molecular and supermolecular structure of polymers and researches of processes of their destruction;
-Research of the special properties of element in different chemical compounds;
-Definition of the components purity in organic synthesis and pharmaceutics.

Equipment: 
FT-IR-Spectrometer: NEXUS E.S.P. (Thermo Nicolet, USA)
NEXUS integrates advanced hardware features with the power and flexibility of software. FT-IR spectrometer equipped High Pressure Diamond Cell and Smart Multi-Bounce HATR for analysis of hard and liquid samples.
