Purpose and area of application

  The technology is intended for volumetric hardening of tool steel blanks by a high-energy stream of microparticles and activation of the blanks for subsequent chemical and thermal treatment.

  It can be used at production of metalworking tool.


Description of the technology

  There is introduction of strengthening powder composite by stream with diameter of 50 mm on depth of 200-230 mm. Tool blanks are strengthened along of the stream direction. After high-energy influence tool blanks are treated by mechanical and thermal process. Productivity of the technology is 1000 pieces per a shift (for steel tool blanks with diameter of 8 mm and length of 200 mm).


Advantages

  • volumetric hardening of steel with depths of 200-230 mm for one cycle;
  • increase of wear resistance in 1,5-2 times, flexural strength - on 20-40 %, impact elasticity - in 1,5-3 times at hardening high-speed tool steel (HSS type); duration reduction of the subsequent chemical-thermal processing on 20-70 %;
  • good machinability by cutting before thermal treatment;
  • formation in a steel of structure of a composite material with anisotropy of physic-mechanical properties. For example, wear resistance of tool steel (P6M5) in cross section increases on 10-14 %, and in longitudinal 1,5-2 times; Self-sharpening effect of the tool is observed.
